Questions & Answers
Goldendoodles are considered a designer breed, or a hybrid, as they are the result of a Golden Retriever being crossed with a Poodle. This combination results in an intelligent, friendly, and incredibly loyal dog, often described as a “gentle giant”. Goldendoodles typically have the robust build of a Golden Retriever, with the curly coat of a Poodle. They come in solid colors, such as black or cream, or in multi-colored varieties, like apricot, gray, or red.
While Goldendoodles may be a better option than some other breeds when it comes to allergies, they are not technically hypoallergenic. The breed's loosely-curl or wavy coat traps allergens such as pollen or dander, which can unfortunately trigger or worsen allergy symptoms. Some Goldendoodles however, have a coat that is more like a Poodle's, which may reduce the amount of allergens they can accumulate.
Goldendoodles typically have the same dietary needs as other breeds, though they do need a higher proportion of quality protein. A good quality kibble for Goldendoodles should include the proper mix, as well as a list of the important vitamins and minerals required by the breed. Some Goldendoodles may also suffer from an allergy to certain ingredients, so it’s important to feed your pooch something that is made from fresh, animal-derived ingredients, whole grains and other healthy sources.
Congratulations on your new Goldendoodle! To ensure a happy and successful relationship with your furry friend, the best way to prepare for your new four-legged family member is to get informed about the breed. Learn about the general characteristics of Goldendoodles, their nutritional and exercise requirements, as well as any potential health problems that may be common in the breed. It's also important to have the necessary supplies available, like food bowls, crates, a collar, toys, a regular grooming routine, bedding, and enough poop bags for walks.
Goldendoodles, which are a crossbreed between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle, can range in size and some are quite large. Generally, these dogs fall within the medium to large range, with some males reaching upwards of 90 pounds! Therefore, when looking at this breed as a whole, it is definitely fair to say that Goldendoodles can be considered big dogs. As an added bonus, due to their parents having distinct coats, you'll find that Goldendoodles come in a variety of textures and lengths, meaning their grooming needs vary.
Goldendoodles enjoy a variety of activities, swimming being one of them. Not only is swimming good exercise for their bodies, it can also be a great way for them to cool off in the summer and have some fun. Goldendoodles are intelligent, sociable dogs that love to interact with their owners. This means that when you take them to go swimming, they will often jump right in the water with enthusiasm. In addition, their coat is designed to keep them warm and reduce the amount of time it takes them to dry off.
Goldendoodles are excellent family dogs! They are friendly, intelligent, and make wonderful pets for any home. They get along well with children and other animals, making them an ideal choice for multi-pet households. Their easy-going nature makes them great for novice owners and experienced dog owners alike. Goldendoodles are highly trainable, eager to please, and have an impressive wealth of energy. Best of all, they thrive in the company of people, making them affectionate and loyal companions who will shower you with unconditional love and companionship.
Goldendoodles are one of the smartest breeds of dogs around! These hybrid dogs are a mix between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle, two very intelligent purebreds. As a result, Goldendoodles often display high levels of intelligence. They tend to be very trainable and learn quickly. Goldendoodles are often so smart that they'll pick up on the intentions of their owners and act accordingly. That intelligence also means they can remember commands, which makes them easy to train.
