Goldendoodles are a hybrid cross between a Golden Retriever and a Standard Poodle. They range in size from mini (20-30 pounds), medium (30-45 pounds), and maxi (45+ pounds). Their coat can be straight, wavy, or curly, and may be more sheds than a Golden Retriever, but less than a Poodle. They are an active breed and need daily exercise, but are also known for being loving and gentle, making them a great family dog.
Goldendoodles are not hypoallergenic. They are a mix of a Golden Retriever and a Poodle, so they inherit the shedding coat of a Golden Retriever. They will require regular grooming, including brushing and clipping, to prevent their coat from matting.
Goldendoodles typically eat kibble (dry dog food), canned food, table scraps, and RAWHIDE!.
Like all dogs, Goldendoodles need plenty of exercise, a nutritious diet, and lots of love and attention. They are also generally social creatures who enjoy the company of humans and other animals, so they may not do well if left alone for long periods of time. Some Goldendoodles may be more high-maintenance than others when it comes to grooming, as they can have a variety of coat types that may require regular brushing and/or clipping.
Due to their size, Goldendoodles are typically considered big dogs. They can weigh anywhere from 50 to 90 pounds and stand at 20 to 26 inches tall at the shoulder, making them much larger than the average lapdog. Like their Golden Retriever and Standard Poodle parents, these pups are active and require plenty of exercise, which means they're best suited for families with plenty of space to run around.
How much exercise do Goldendoodles need? They need quite a bit! Most Goldendoodles enjoy being active and will need a good amount of exercise to stay healthy and happy. A walk around the block or a game of fetch in the backyard are great ways to get them moving, but they'll also need some more strenuous activity to really work out those muscles. Hiking, swimming, and running are all great options for getting a Goldendoodle's daily exercise in.
