Questions & Answers
Goldendoodles are a hybrid breed of dog made up of a mix of two popular breedsPoodles and Golden Retrievers. They are widely loved for their combination of intelligence, trainability, outgoing personality, and athletic ability. Especially unique is their hypoallergenic coat which is a result of the coat type of their Poodle parent. Not only does this make them a great choice for those with allergies, but also allows them to thrive in a variety of climates from hot to cold.
Goldendoodles are not a hypoallergenic breed. Though they are often deemed as such, this is not necessarily true. Goldendoodles are a hybrid mix of a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. Poodles are often seen as hypoallergenic, but Goldendoodles are not necessarily the same. Those who are prone to allergies or asthma should take necessary precautions before obtaining a Goldendoodle. Breeds that are marked as hypoallergenic do not guarantee that the pooch will cause no reactions for those who are prone to allergies.
Knowing what not to feed your Goldendoodle can be tricky. It is important to be aware that some human foods that are generally considered safe for humans can be potentially dangerous if fed to your canine friend, including grapes, raisins, chocolate and certain types of nuts. Additionally, onions, garlic and coffee should all be avoided due to the toxic compounds they contain. It is also important to keep foods with a high fat content, such as cheese, away from your Goldendoodle as it can create an upset stomach or cause vomiting.
Getting a new Goldendoodle is an exciting time, but preparation is important for welcoming the pup into the home safely. First, ensure all hazardous materials and chemicals are stowed away, preferably in a secure location. It is also a good idea to puppy-proof the home by covering any cords, outlets, and small objects that could potentially be swallowed. Since Goldendoodles can have a lot of energy, make sure there is plenty of space for them to explore and play in.
Goldendoodles come in a wide variety of sizes, ranging from toy, miniature, medium and standard. Depending on whether the parent Goldendoodle is a Toy or Miniature Poodle or a Standard Poodle will determine the size, with toy Goldendoodles typically weighing around 10 pounds and standard Goldendoodles usually reaching 50 or more pounds. On average, miniature Goldendoodles weigh around 25-35 pounds, and medium size Goldendoodles usually grow to 40-50 pounds.
Goldendoodles are active and energetic dogs, with plenty of energy to play and explore. They need a good amount of physical and mental exercise each day. This can include regular walks, runs, playing fetch, and participating in agility training. Goldendoodles can also benefit from mentally stimulating activities like hide-and-seek, teaching new tricks, and sniffing out hidden treats. Despite their high level of activity, Goldendoodles can easily adjust to the energy level of their family.
Goldendoodles can absolutely make wonderful family dogs! Not only do they have a great temperament, they are also highly intelligent and loyal. They bond easily with people, love being active and playing, and remain loyal and protective of their family, making them a great choice as a family pet. Goldendoodles have lots of energy and require regular exercise and mental stimulation for their health and happiness. Regular interaction with their family is important for proper socialization and they love spending time with their families. They show very little aggression and are great with children and other pets.
Goldendoodles, a hybrid of two highly intelligent breeds, the Golden Retriever and the Poodle, generally possess above average intelligence. Many Goldendoodle owners report their pups learn basic commands within days, as they are eager to please their family. As highly intuitive dogs, Goldendoodles can sense how their owners are feeling, therefore providing comfort when needed. A well-trained Goldendoodle will be able to comprehend and respond to a variety of commands even from different people.
