Questions & Answers
Goldendoodles are a unique breed of dog that many people find to be quite interesting. They are a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle, which gives them an especially curly, plush, and silky coat, which can appear in a variety of colors. The breed is usually a very happy and friendly dog, highly intelligent, and easy to train. They are also loyal and great companions, and they typically love to be around people, and to join in activities and trips.
Goldendoodles are unique in their coats since they are a mix of both parent breeds. A Goldendoodle's coat can vary from a wavy, thick and steady coat to a soft, fluffy and often curly coat. Depending on the generation, it could result in a variety of colors such as black, white, cream, caramel, and more. Goldendoodle coats are most commonly medium to long in length with some variation between generations, but all are hypoallergenic and may be characterized as low to non-shedding.
Goldendoodles are typically high-energy, intelligent, and highly trainable dogs. They need a balanced diet that consists of proteins, carbohydrates, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. A Goldendoodle's dietary needs will vary according to their size, age, and activity level. Generally, Goldendoodles should consume 1-2 servings of premium brand dog food a day. In addition, these dogs enjoy a variety of vegetables, including chopped carrots, sweet potatoes, and green beans. When cooked, eggs and fish such as salmon and trout can also make for a good meal.
Preparing your home for a new Goldendoodle requires planning and careful consideration of the animal's needs. You should make sure the new pup has an area to call its own, such as a crate or other small space, and provide chew-proof toys to keep it occupied. Be sure to puppy-proof your space: cover any sharp corners, hide electrical cords, and block off any hazardous areas. You should also create an exercise space: shampoo carpets, declutter, and provide a safe, comfortable walking and running environment.
Goldendoodles are considered a medium-sized to large dog. Depending on the size of the parents and their generation, Size and weight of a Goldendoodle can vary significantly. A larger F1 Goldendoodle typically weighs between 4590 lbs and is 2125 inches tall at the shoulder. A smaller F1b Goldendoodle usually weigh around 35-50 lbs and 22-24 inches tall; while a Mini F1b Goldendoodle will usually be around 15-35 lbs and 17-21 inches tall.
How much exercise is necessary for your Goldendoodle depends on her age, size and activity level. Generally, Goldendoodles require at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise per day double that for puppies or large/active adult Goldendoodles. Breeds of this size tend to do best when they have an adequate amount of physical and mental stimulation, so if your daily activities only include a short 30 minute walk, consider including some off-leash play time or adding additional activities into the mix.
Goldendoodles are an excellent family pet and often form strong bonds with children. They have ideally suited temperaments that help them get along congenially with others in the household, including little kids. They are known for being very affectionate and patient towards kids, especially when socialized and trained when they are puppies. Furthermore, Goldendoodles are usually very patient and gentle with children; they rarely actively seek out trouble or cause a scene, making them some of the most ideal dogs for a home with children.
Training your Goldendoodle is not a complicated process but requires a lot of consistency and will power in order to get the best results. The best approach is positive reinforcement, which means rewarding your pup for a job well done. It is essential that you set clear limitations and boundaries on your pup's behaviour from the very beginning. Create a routine for potty training, feeding, walking and playtime that your pup can get used to. Training sessions should be kept short, fun and positive, we recommend only 10 minutes at a time.
