Questions & Answers
Goldendoodles are a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. They are typically very friendly, intelligent and easy to train. They are also low-shedding, making them a good choice for people with allergies. Goldendoodles can vary in size, depending on the ratio of Golden Retriever to Poodle in their lineage. Some common health problems to be aware of include hip dysplasia, von Willebrand's disease and epilepsy.
Goldendoodles are often advertised as being non-shedding, and while they certainly shed less than most dogs, they are not truly non-shedding. The amount of shedding varies depending on the type of coat the dog has (wavy, curly, or straight) and whether or not they have been clipped. Goldendoodles with straight coats usually shed more than those with curly or wavy coats. Even the non-shedding Goldendoodles will lose some hair, though it will be much less than that of a shedding dog.
You can find a list of what not to feed Goldendoodles online or in pet owner forums. But generally, you should avoid giving them table scraps, fatty meats, chocolate, caffeine, grapes, and raisins. These can all be harmful to Goldendoodles. You should also check with your vet before changing their diet or giving them any new food, just to be safe.
Before bringing your new Goldendoodle home, there are a few things you can do to prepare your home and make the transition smoother for both you and your new pup. First, create a designated space for your dog. This could be an crate or an area in your home with their bed, toys, and food/water bowls. This will give your dog a sense of security and a place to call their own. Secondly, start to puppy proof your home by putting away anything they could chew on or get into.
Goldendoodles come in three size categories: standard, medium, and mini. Standard Goldendoodles weigh between 50 and 90 pounds and stand 23 to 26 inches tall at the shoulder. Medium Goldendoodles typically weigh between 30 and 50 pounds and stand 17 to 20 inches tall at the shoulder. Mini Goldendoodles weigh between 17 and 35 pounds and stand up to 18 inches tall at the shoulder.
On average, Goldendoodles require about an hour of exercise every day. This can be achieved through a combination of walks, runs, and playtime. However, the amount of exercise your Goldendoodle needs may vary depending on their age, health, and energy level. For example, a young Goldendoodle may need more exercise than an older one. If your Goldendoodle has health problems, you will need to talk to your veterinarian about how much exercise is appropriate.
Many families choose Goldendoodles because they are gentle, loving, and great with kids. Goldendoodles typically have a laid-back personality, which makes them perfect for households with young children. They are also patient, easily trainable, and eager to please, which makes them wonderful family pets. Goldendoodles are typically good with other dogs and animals, too, so your kids will have plenty of furry friends to play with.
The recommended amount of exercise for a Goldendoodle is at least 30 minutes per day. This can be divided into two 15-minute sessions or one 30-minute session.
