Questions & Answers
Goldendoodles are a unique and popular breed of dog. They are a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle, and while they are primarily known for being very smart, kind and highly trainable, they are also incredibly fun and playful! One fun fact about Goldendoodles is that their fur ranges from wavy to curly and may even be hypoallergenic.
Goldendoodles can be non-shedding but it depends on their coat type. In general, Goldendoodles have two types of coats: curly or wavy and straight. Curly and wavy coats have a tighter curl, which means the dog will shed less. Straight coats are a little bit more likely to shed. Goldendoodles that are a mix between a curly or wavy-coated parent and a straight-coated parent will have a softer, less densely-curly coat, and shed more.
Goldendoodles need high-quality dog food to ensure their nutritional needs are met, especially since they are a large breed. There are a variety of surprisingly healthy foods that are specially designed for Goldendoodles. For example, Royal Canin Goldendoodle dry food contains 28% protein, 18% fat, and a variety of amino acids to promote joint health and coat and skin health. Another option with an even higher protein content is Nom Nom Now Goldendoodle Adult Recipe, with 39% protein based on fresh, human-grade ingredients.
Goldendoodles do not have any more specific requirements than any other breed. While all responsible dog ownership requires exercising, regular veterinary visits, socializing, and training, Goldendoodle owners may have to pay extra attention to grooming and to the coat. As these dogs are a mix of poodle and golden retriever, the coat type and its accompanying upkeep can vary from individual to individual. Some Goldendoodles may have a coat that needs to be clipped a few times a year or brushed several times a week while others may need to be clipped monthly or brushed daily.
Goldendoodles are a hybrid breed of dog, created by crossing a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. As a result, size can vary significantly. Generally speaking, Goldendoodles are considered medium-large in size, but some may be smaller or larger depending on the ratio of each parent breed used in the mix. The average Goldendoodle stands between 21 and 24 inches at the shoulder and can weigh anywhere from 30 to 85 pounds depending on the size of the parents.
Goldendoodles are one of the most popular and active dog breeds out there! Characterized by their playful, happy-go-lucky behavior, Goldendoodles have enough energy to keep up with any active lifestyle. They love spending time outdoors playing catch, taking hikes, or even competing in agility or obedience competitions. They require lots of physical and mental stimulation, so they're perfect for busy families, active singles, and adventurers. With love and attention, Goldendoodles can make loyal, loyal friends who will be with you through thick and thin.
Goldendoodles have a tendency to be incredibly friendly and loving making them the perfect companion for children. This durable, hypo-allergenic breed is gentle and loyal and loves to engage in outdoor activities with kids. They get along very well with children of all ages because of their intelligence, easy-going nature, and ability to sense when a child is feeling sad or scared. Goldendoodles also have a fair amount of energy, perfect for a rambunctious child, but they constantly seek out affection and don't require much exercise.
Training your Goldendoodle can be an exciting and rewarding experience for them and you. Begin by establishing yourself as the alpha, the leader of the pack, and your dog's main source of security and trust. Consistency is key in training your pup, so create a schedule and stick to it. Utilize positive reinforcement, such as praise and healthy treats, to reward good behavior and keep them motivated. Start with simple commands like "sit", "come", and "stay", then move on to more complex commands.
