Goldendoodles are bred by crossing a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. Generally, these dogs come in three sizes: standard Goldendoodles, which are usually around 50 to 90 pounds; miniature Goldendoodles, which are around 20 to 40 pounds; and toy Goldendoodles, which are smaller and range from 4 to 25 pounds.
The Goldendoodle coat is generally an attractive mix of the warm gold color of the Golden Retriever and the wavy coat of the Poodle. The amount of curl in the coat can vary greatly depending on the parent breeds. Generally speaking, it is a lowto non-shedding coat; however, regular brushing and grooming are recommended to prevent matting and maintain the coat's beautiful appearance. Goldendoodles can range in coat length from short to long, and some may have a wiry, terrier-like texture.
Goldendoodles generally have a hearty appetite and need to be fed a balanced diet to stay healthy. The best diet is one that's high in fiber and contains plenty of lean proteins like chicken, fish, and legumes. It's important to supplement their meals with fruits and vegetables like bananas, apples, spinach, carrots, and sweet potatoes. Many people opt for commercially prepared dry food that's specifically formulated for dogs with higher exercise needs, as Goldendoodles are known to be energetic. Generally speaking, a Goldendoodle puppy with two Miniature Poodle parents and no further generations of breeding will grow to between 10–20 pounds. If the Miniature Poodle parent is bred with a Standard Poodle, the resulting puppy will typically be about 20–35 pounds.
