Questions & Answers
Goldendoodles are a cross-breed of a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. They are considered a hybrid rather than a breed on their own and categorized as a designer, or ‘doodle’, dog. Goldendoodles can come in different sizes, depending on the size of their parent breeds. Some are small, while others are medium to large in size. Goldendoodles are known for their intelligence, friendly temperament, and family-friendly personalities.
Goldendoodles are considered lowto non-shedding which makes them quite desirable for someone with allergies, but they are not technically hypoallergenic. They are known as a hybrid breed, produced by crossing a Golden Retriever with a Poodle. While the Poodle parent has a low level of allergic reaction, the Golden Retriever is known for a higher level of shedding. Therefore, as a crossbreed, it can be difficult to determine how much shedding or allergic reaction a Goldendoodle may cause.
Goldendoodles, a mix between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle, typically enjoy consuming a healthy and balanced diet made up of quality dry dog food, fresh fruits, vegetables, small amounts of cooked meat, eggs, and fish, as well as small snacks like plain yogurt, cottage cheese, and fruits like banana and berries. As a hybrid breed, Goldendoodles can vary in dietary requirements so owners should be sure to consult with a veterinarian for more tailored dietary advice for their pet.
Preparing your home for a new Goldendoodle doesn't have to be overwhelming. Start by puppy-proofing your home moving fragile possessions out of reach, power-cording outlets, and creating safe spaces to prevent your pup from getting into trouble. It's also important to prepare a comfortable spot for sleeping, exercising, and playing. Designate an area with fresh bedding, chew toys and enjoy plenty of interactive play time with your pup.
Goldendoodles are a hybrid breed that can either have a small or large size, depending on the type of parent breeds used. For example, if the parent dogs are both of a smaller breed, then the puppy will likely be smaller than if one or both parents are of a larger breed. Thus, Goldendoodles may be considered small dogs as long as the parent breeds used were small. However, even if the parent dogs were of a smaller breed, it is not a guarantee that the Goldendoodles produced will be small.
Goldendoodles are quite active dogs who need daily physical and mental stimulation. Exercise requirements depend on age, size, and metabolic rate, but on average a Goldendoodle should get 30-60 minutes of vigorous exercise daily. This can include playing outside with toys, short hikes, or long runs. Goldendoodles can be quite energetic, so incorporating at least one of these activities each day is important to keep them physically healthy and mentally stimulated. Make sure to give them plenty of time outdoors; their thick, double-coat can overheat easily.
Goldendoodles are indeed fantastic family dogs! They are loyal, trainable, and incredibly affectionate. Goldendoodles love being around people and animals, and tend to be quite social. They are usually very gentle and patient with small children, making them ideal family dogs. Additionally, Goldendoodles are quite intelligent, meaning they can easily learn basic commands and adapt to different environments. With the option of multiple sizes, they can fit perfectly into any home. As long as they have regular exercise and attention, Goldendoodles make great family pets!
Goldendoodles have a reputation for being intelligent and eager to please. They are an intelligent mix of their Poodle and Golden Retriever parents, making them highly trainable and capable problem solvers with great obedience. Goldendoodles can understand commands quickly and remember them, learn new tricks at a faster rate than other breeds, and have a great memory. They love spending time with people, which helps them stay focused and engaged with their owners—which is essential for training as they quickly catch onto cues and techniques.
