Questions & Answers
Goldendoodles are year-round companions that provide unconditional love and loyalty. Not to mention that they are incredibly smart! These pups are a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. They have a double coat of fur – a silky outer layer and a wavy undercoat – that comes in a variety of beautiful colors. On average, Goldendoodles can live up to 15 years. They are also very active dogs, so they need lots of exercise in order to stay fit. Another fun fact is that Goldendoodles tend to be good swimmers!
Goldendoodles can cause allergic reactions in some people, but many people find that they are good companions for those with allergies due to their low-shedding coats. There are certain breeds and types of Goldendoodles that are hypoallergenic or less likely to trigger an allergic reaction. However, even those that are labeled as hypoallergenic can still cause reactions in some people, so it is important to do your research and make an informed decision if you have allergies.
Goldendoodles are generally quite hardy and adaptable dogs, but just like other breeds, there are certain foods they should not have. Some of the foods to avoid feeding Goldendoodles include grapes, chocolate, onions, garlic, mushrooms, coffee, and raw meat. An easy way to know what foods to avoid is to check with a vet or do some research online. Goldendoodles may also have sensitivities or allergies to certain food items, so it's best to rule out any potential triggers if your pet begins displaying symptoms of intestinal distress.
Goldendoodles can require some extra care compared to other breeds of dog. They have a higher energy level than some breeds, so they need adequate physical activity and mental stimulation in order to stay healthy and happy. Additionally, they can be prone to certain health conditions, such as skin irritations and digestive problems, so it's important to stay on top of their health and seek veterinary care when needed. They may require frequent brushing and clipping, but do not require professional grooming services unless desired. Generally, they should be fed high-quality food to help with skin issues and digestion.
Goldendoodles are a cross between a Poodle and a Golden Retriever, and as such, tend to be quite large in size. While not all Goldendoodles will be the same size, they generally range from medium-large to large in size. Many adult Goldendoodles weigh between 45-60 lbs and range from 18-24 inches tall at the shoulder. Thus, Goldendoodles can usually be classified as big dogs.
Goldendoodles are highly active dogs requiring plenty of exercise. Depending on the age of the dog, they need at least 20-30 minutes of vigorous exercise per day. Exercise can include anything from going for walks and runs, to swimming or playing fetch. Puppies may need up to an hour of exercise each day in order to expend their energy, whereas older dogs may need less. It's important to ensure that your Goldendoodle gets enough exercise to stay healthy, but also to prevent destructive behaviors that might arise from boredom and lack of activity.
Goldendoodles are known for their friendly and loving personalities, and they typically do very well with children. Goldendoodles are very social and they are quick learners, so with proper training and socialization they make wonderful family members who can entertain and charm both adults and children alike. Goldendoodles also make exceptional playmates for children because of their energy, playfulness, and intelligence. They can be incredibly gentle with kids, but they should always be supervised when around young children to prevent any potential injuries and ensure good behaviors.
Goldendoodles are known for being some of the smartest of the designer breeds, and intelligence that surpasses most other breeds. Goldendoodles have the ability to learn quickly and are highly trainable. They make excellent family pets, as they are easily adaptable to any environment and are very sociable. Goldendoodles are also very loving and intuitive, often able to sense emotions and accurately gauge the mood of those around them. They have a very eager-to-please attitude, making it easy to train them in basic commands.
