They are sociable, formal breeds that are not clingy but do require plenty of attention. They have a beautiful, silky, long coat that comes in many different colors, such as black and white, red, gray, and brown. Havaneses are not typically known for being a hypoallergenic breed but they are still considered to be a low shedding breed.
The Havanese's coat is particularly unique among small breeds. It is long, flowing and silky, with a slight wave that gives it a distinctive look. It is also double-coated, meaning that the undercoat is soft and dense, and the topcoat is slightly longer and perhaps a tad coarser.
