They are sturdy, intelligent, and easy to train, making them perfect for both families and first-time owners. Their coat can come in a variety of colors, making it easy to match with any household. Due to their intelligence and friendly nature, Havaneses make great watchdogs, as they are surprisingly protective of their families. They may be small, but they are quite brave and courageous.
Havaneses, also known as Bichon Habenero, are actually hypoallergenic! This is because they have an intermediate level of shedding, making them an ideal option for people who suffer from allergies. The moderate level of shedding makes a Havaneses much less likely to trigger allergic reactions in people with allergies to pet dander and animal fur. With regular brushing, the coat is kept clean and minimal shedding can be seen. The Havaneses breed has little to no dander, meaning they produce very low levels of pet allergens.
