Fun facts about Havaneses include: they have a unique white and black coat that is not found in any other breed; they are known to be quite attention seeking and are quick to bond with humans; they are known to be somewhat stubborn, often requiring a firm but gentle hand when training; and, lastly, they are incredibly loyal, often following their owners around as if they were a puppy.
Havaneses can be considered hypoallergenic, due to their hair type and low shedding. The Havaneses have a single-layer coat of curly hair, which is the closest a dog can come to having a non-shedding coat. Because the hairs are continually pushed upward into the curls, the majority of their shed fur is pushed back inside the coat, which reduces airborne dander, making them ideal for allergy sufferers. As with other non-shedding dogs, Havaneses require regular grooming and maintenance to keep their coat clean and free of mats.
