Havaneses are a small class of toy dogs. They were originally bred to be companion dogs in Cuba in the 1800's, making them one of the oldest toy breeds of dog. They are incredibly popular family pets due to their intelligence and affectionate natures. Havaneses are somewhat surprisingly athletic for their small size and have an appearance that is both distinctive and highly desirable. They have a fluffy, double coat that comes in a number of different variations and typically have ears that are wider at the base than at the tip.
Havaneses are non-shedding dogs and possess a hypoallergenic quality, however, no breed is 100% allergy friendly.
