Aside from being excellent in the show ring and competitions, they make great assistance dogs, police and search-and-rescue dogs, therapy dogs, sniffer dogs, and family pets. They are also incredibly easy to train due to their eagerness to please and natural affinity for learning.
The Labrador Retriever is well known for its thick, dense double coat. The coat is typically straight and short, consisting of a short, thick topcoat and a softer undercoat.
