Originally bred to help fisherman in Newfoundland catch fish, work as gun dogs, and aid in aquatic rescues, these dogs are now popular family pets due to their intelligence, friendly demeanor and an eagerness to please. Labs come in three recognized colors black, yellow, and chocolate. Labradors retain many of the same traits that made them popular working dogs, such as an excellent sense of smell, a strong work ethic, and an ability to remain focused in difficult or unfamiliar environments.
Managing allergies with Labrador Retrievers depends on the severity of the allergies.
