Labrador Retrievers are loyal, family-friendly, and highly intelligent. Their well-rounded disposition makes them an excellent choice for families, and they're often used as service dogs. This loyal breed loves being in the company of their humans, and they’re great with children. They have thick, water-resistant coats, which make them ideal for swimming and running outdoors.
It is commonly believed that Labradors are non-shedding dogs, however, this is not entirely accurate. All breeds of dogs do shed fur to differing degrees, and Labrador Retrievers are no exception. Labs typically have double coats that require regular brushing and coat care to prevent fur from excessively shedding about the home. Labradors are, however, considered to be relatively low-shedding in comparison to other breeds, especially those known as 'heavy-shedding'. It is important to develop and maintain a grooming routine to keep shedding under control when owning a Labrador.

Labrador Retrievers are well known for being loyal and friendly companions, and when properly socialized they often not only get along with other pets but are quite fond of them. They are gentle natured, have an easy-going demeanor, and tend to bond with all members of the family, including any other animals. However, although a well-socialized Lab may be more accepting of other pets, it is important to remember that their instincts to chase anything that moves, including animals, are still very much part of their breed trait.
The amount of time daily that you need to train a Labrador Retriever depends on your goals for the dog, its age, and existing behaviors. You may need to spend more time working with puppies or dogs with specific behavioral issues than a more mature dog or one that has already had some basic training.
