The Labrador Retriever is most commonly known for its distinctively beautiful, glossy coat. Typically varying in shades of black, chocolate, and yellow, the coat is water-resistant and medium to thick in texture. It comes with some amount of undercoat for cold weather climates, and an incredibly soft fur across the entire body that's easy to groom and doesn't shed or drool. Combine this with a good disposition and friendly personality, and it's easy to see why the Labrador Retriever makes such a wonderful, loyal companion!
You should not feed Labrador Retrievers chocolate, raisins, grapes, onions, garlic, chives, or avocado. Additionally, you should not feed Labs human food such as cheese, butter, sugar, and unhealthy snacks. Human food can also cause digestive upset and make it more difficult for them to absorb essential vitamins and minerals from their regular dog food.

Labrador Retrievers come in two different sizes—standard and miniature. Standard Labradors are typically around 22-24 inches (56-60 cm) at the shoulder when fully grown, while miniature Labradors are significantly smaller, at around 15-17 inches (38-43 cm) tall. Body size isn't the only difference between standard and miniature Labradors; they can also vary in coat color, coat length, and build.
