They make wonderful family pets, and as they have fairly minimal grooming needs, they can easily adjust to a variety of living situations. Labs tend to be very affectionate and even-tempered companions that thrive on human contact. They are also active and energetic, so they need the opportunity to exercise frequently.
Labrador Retrievers are not typically considered a "non-shedding" breed; they are more accurately termed "low shedding." Although these breeds do shed and will leave some fur around your home, the shedding is usually light and doesn't require as much grooming as other breeds of a similar size.
