In fact, one of the most well-known service roles for Labs is that of guide dogs for the blind. Additionally, their loyalty and willingness to please humans have led to their widespread use as working dogs in search and rescue operations, drug detection and protection of livestock.
Labrador Retrievers are a popular breed known for their intelligence, loyalty, and friendly disposition. While they do tend to shed a considerable amount of hair, it is generally less than that of other breeds. Brushings and grooming on a regular basis will help minimize shedding. Additionally, these dogs do not require frequent trips to the groomer and if groomed properly they can look neat and tidy without the need for shaving or trimming. In contrast, a younger, energetic Retriever could benefit from the full 60 minutes, including a mix of long walks and indoor training.
