Labrador Retrievers are revered for their trainability, intelligence, and loyalty. They are an ideal family companion due to their gentle, affable nature, and originally served as hardworking hunting dogs. Labradors typically size from 22-25 inches at the shoulder, and weigh 55-80 pounds. This breed is very athletic, and loves to be active outdoors. They have a thick, double coat that comes in three colorations: yellow, black, and chocolate.
The Labrador Retriever has a short, dense, weather-resistant coat comprised of a soft, insulating undercoat and a thick, outer coat that can be either wavy or straight. Labradors typically have a black, chocolate, or yellow coat, with the yellow range ranging from a very pale creamy color to a dark, fox-red hue. The coat of a Labrador is easily groomed, needing occasional brushing to remove dead hair. All colors are also resistant to fading.
