Labrador Retrievers are a friendly breed best known for their loyalty and intelligence. One fun fact is that in 1939, the first Labradors were imported to the United States from Canada. A male Labrador Retriever called 'Banchory Bolo' was the first officially registered Labrador Retriever in the US. Additionally, these sweet-natured dogs are well suited to a variety of activities, such as water sports or as a companion for activities like walking or running. Their coats come in three official colours: yellow, chocolate, or black and each one has a waterproof undercoat.
Labrador Retrievers are considered to be "medium shedders," meaning that they do not shed heavily like some other breeds, but, at the same time, they do tend to shed a moderate amount of hair each year. For this reason, some people may mistakenly believe that Labradors are non-shedding.
