Labs have an exceptionally strong tugging instinct which, combined with their characteristic good looks, has made them into America's second most popular breed. Fun facts about Labradors include, their thick furry coats can be either black, yellow, or chocolate in color and allows them to withstand even the coldest temperatures. They are also incredibly adaptable when it comes to food, and most Labrador Retrievers never tire of eating.
The Labrador Retriever has a medium-length, thick, and straight double coat. The coat of a Labrador Retriever is typically black, yellow, or chocolate in color, although variations of that coloration can occur. Its undercoat is often a much lighter color. The Labrador Retriever's coat is dense and water repellent and sheds year-round, making the breed easier to maintain than other long-haired breeds. Shedding is usually more pronounced during the spring months and will often require more frequent brushing and grooming.
It is important to be mindful of what you feed your Labrador Retriever because different foods can be potentially harmful. It is generally advised that not feed them chocolate, caffeine, macadamia nuts, grapes, raisins, garlic, onions, or any other foods that are high in fat or sugar.
