Labrador Retrievers are a breed of gun-dog that belong to the retriever class. They are strong, well-muscled sporting dogs that have been bred to bring fowl and other game nests back to the hunter. In more recent times, they are often used as therapy, search-and-rescue, and assistance dogs. Labradors are active and personable, making them an excellent family friend. Their most distinctive physical feature is their beautiful coat, which can range from a pale yellow to a deep chocolate brown.
Labrador Retrievers have a coat that, depending on the type of Retriever, can be either wavy or straight. Depending on the season, the coat may also have varied lengths between its two main coats, with the undercoat being highly dense and short, and the guard coat being thick and water-resistant.
