Aside from all of the practical reasons to love them, one of the most interesting things about Labrador Retrievers is their incredible loyalty. While they enjoy playing and pleasing their humans, Labrador Retrievers are also incredibly protective of their loved ones and make great friends. This sense of fierceness combined with their loving personalities makes them an even more interesting breed!
Labrador Retrievers are not non-shedding. While they produce less hair than other breeds, they still shed seasonally and require regular brushing and grooming. Their coats typically have two layers: a dense topcoat that helps keep them warm and dry in water and an undercoat that contains the hair they shed. The undercoat also serves to keep them cool during the summer months. To reduce shedding, daily brushing is recommended to help pull out any loose hair and promote healthy new growth.
