Malteses are a small breed of dog that is part of the toy group. They are sometimes classified as "Toy Group" dogs because of their small size and lap-dog behavior. They are also popularly known as the "Bichon Frise" or the "Maltese Terrier." Maltese dogs have a gentle, friendly, and playful temperament although they can be impulsive. They typically weigh around 10 pounds and have a life span of around 12-15 years. Maltese dogs have luxurious white coats and do not require significant grooming.
Malteses are considered to be hypoallergenic and non-shedding, which means they make excellent pets for people with allergies.
