It is important to note that no dog breed is 100% hypoallergenic, as all dogs can produce pet dander; however, Malteses might not trigger as severe allergic reactions as other breeds because of their fur length and texture.
Malteses should not be given any foods that contain chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, or anything sweetened with xylitol as they can be toxic to a Maltese's delicate system.
