Maltipoos are a hybrid breed, created by crossing a Maltese and a Toy Poodle. They're highly intelligent, social, and friendly dogs who make wonderful family pets and companion animals. Maltipoos usually have a silky, hypoallergenic coat, and can vary in color, having shades of white, black, brown, red, or apricot in their fur. One fun fact about Maltipoos is that they tend to retain their puppy-like playfulness and exuberance well into adulthood.
The Maltipoo coat typically is a combination of the Poodle's curly coat and the Maltese's silky coat. In the past, the fur of the Maltipoo typically was short to medium in length, appearing soft and fluffy, but in recent years it has become much more varied. Generally, however, the curls appear either wavy or curly, giving the dog a unique look that many find quite appealing.
Maltipoos are generally considered to be fairly hearty eaters, as they tend to have higher-than-average appetites. The main component of Maltipoos' diet should be high-grade kibble that is tailored specifically for small breed dogs and should never contain artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. In addition to kibble, Maltipoos can also benefit from other inclusions in their diet, such as cooked white meat (e.g. chicken or fish), fresh vegetables, fruits, and grains such as oatmeal, quinoa, and brown rice.

Generally, full maturity size for Maltipoos is reached by 1-2 years of age and can determine the overall size of the dog. Depending on what generation of MALTIPOO you have can make a difference in size. For example, F1 or "first generation is usually larger than F4 or "fourth generation." Typically, male Maltipoos will be larger than females.
Maltipoos absolutely love to swim! Their wonderful, outgoing personalities and desire to run and jump make them the perfect swimming companions. An activity like this is very beneficial for them as it allows them to burn off some of their energy while partaking in something that they enjoy. Swimming is not only a great physical exercise but a great mental exercise as well it stimulates the pup's brain in ways different than other activities. Not to mention, it is also a great way to build social skills and build relationships with other pups!
Generally speaking, Maltipoos are very friendly and loving dogs who absolutely adore children! Maltipoos are very easily trainable, and, since they are so eager to please their humans, they can pick up on the different levels of affection expected between a dog and a child. With proper introduction, adult supervision, and careful obedience training, Maltipoos can get along wonderfully with kids! These joyful little dogs make ideal family pets, and they can specifically provide a great deal of love and companionship for younger members of the household.
