Maltipoos are known as one of the most unique and interesting canine breed crosses due to their naturally sweet personalities and intelligence. These hybrid pups are the result of crossing a Maltese and a Toy or Miniature Poodle, and therefore have the combined traits of both. Maltipoos are very loyal and affectionate companions with slightly curly coats that can come in a range of colors. They are naturally non-shedding and require minimal grooming, making them a perfect family pet. They also great with children and other animals due to their gentle temperaments and intelligence.
Generally speaking, Maltipoos have a soft, wavy, and fluffy coat. Depending on the genes of the parent breeds, their coats can range from a silky lapdog-like texture to a more coarse terrier-like texture. Typically, Maltipoos have straight to loosely curled fleece/wool coats with fur that is lightly feathered on the legs, ears, and chest. Contrary to what you may assume, Maltipoo coats come in a variety of colors.
Maltipoos are an intelligent and curious hybrid breed, which means they have a relatively varied diet. A carefully balanced diet of high-quality puppy kibble or wet food is usually recommended, but they also do well with a range of all-natural treats like raw beef or poultry, seeds, cooked eggs, and fruits and vegetables like kale, carrots, and apples. Of course, nothing beats fresh food cooked from home and they certainly enjoy those. Non-meat-based treats like peanut butter, cheese, and plain Greek yogurt are also excellent options.
Maltipoos do have some special requirements to keep them happy and healthy. They are a cross between a poodle and a Maltese, which means they need regular grooming. It's important to brush them at least once a week to keep their coats looking silky and prevent matting. They can also require frequent trips to the groomer or haircuts to keep them cool in the summer months. Additionally, Maltipoos need regular exercise, whether it's a jog in the park or a short play session.
The size of your Maltipoo puppy will vary depending on its parent breeds, but generally speaking, adult Maltipoos typically range in size from 7 to 20 pounds and stand 8 to 14 inches tall at the shoulder.
