They are often referred to as a designer lapdog, as they were bred to be affectionate and friendly companions. Maltipoos can vary in their appearance and size, and have a soft, wavy coat. Their coats range from white to cream, and they have long ears. These beautiful and cuddly pooches are smart and adaptable, making them an ideal choice for both younger and older families alike.
Maltipoos, also known as Maltese-Poodle mixes, have the potential to be hypoallergenic as long as they are regularly groomed and their coats are kept free of allergens. This is because neither the Poodle nor the Maltese breeds are prone to shedding. Since a Maltipoo is a hybrid of the two, they have many of the same hypoallergenic benefits. However, even so-called hypoallergenic breeds can still cause reactions in some people with allergies.

Maltipoos, the product of crossing a Maltese and a Toy Poodle, can range in size from anywhere between three and twenty pounds. Generally speaking, because of their normally petite frames, Maltipoos are indeed small in size, often small enough to fit in a handbag. That being said, some may exceed twenty pounds if crossbred with a larger Poodle variety or develop differently to the ‘typical’ Maltipoo physique.
Walking your Maltipoo for at least 30 minutes per day is a great way to keep them healthy and happy. To keep your pup in top condition, aim for around 30-60 minutes of walking each day. Depending on their energy level, you may want to aim for slightly more or less. If you cannot walk for the full 30-60 minutes each day, split it up into 15-minute chunks spread throughout the day. Be mindful of the temperature and cut short if necessary. And remember to always have plenty of fresh, cool water available while you walk.
