Questions & Answers
Maltipoos are a crossbreed of the Maltese and the Poodle. They are a playful, intelligent, and friendly toy breed that typically weighs between 7 and 12 pounds. They have non-shedding coats that come in an array of colors, including white, apricot, and beige. They are known for being loyal and affectionate, and they make great lap dogs. Maltipoos require regular grooming and trimming of their coats to maintain their quality of health. Along with regular exercise, Maltipoos should also receive a moderate but balanced diet.
Maltipoos are considered to be hypoallergenic and are known for their non-shedding and low-shedding capabilities. The Maltipoo is a cross between a Maltese and a Poodle, and the coat on a Maltipoo can range from wavy to curly. Generally, Maltipoos that have curly coats are even less likely to shed than those with wavy coats. Although all dogs will shed some fur, the Maltipoo's fur tends to be more on the light side, so any shedding will be minimal.
Maltipoos should not be fed table scraps as this can cause digestive issues and may make them less interested in their regular food. Additionally, it is very important to avoid feeding them food that has bones, as these can block or puncture their intestines and require emergency veterinary care. It's best to feed your Maltipoo a balanced, high-quality kibble higher in vegetables, grains, and good proteins. Avoid foods that could potentially be contaminated by mold, such as spoiled fruit or nuts.
Maltipoo, a cross between a Maltese and a Toy Poodle, do have some special requirements that come along with being a small breed of dog. For instance, frequent visits to the groomer are highly recommended for Maltipoo to help keep their fur healthy, as their fur can become matted or tangled easily. They also should have regular tooth brushing, and require daily exercise and plenty of mental stimulation to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. One should avoid removing the fur of a Maltipoo, as they are especially prone to the cold and other health issues.
Maltipoos, often known as a cross between a Maltese and a Toy or Miniature Poodle, are classified as a small-breed dog. They only reach around 10-14 inches in height and generally only weigh between 5-20 pounds. As such, although they will require daily exercise and playtime, they do not fall into the big dog class. As compared to larger breeds, Maltipoos require less living space and may be better suited to more urban living.
Maltipoos absolutely love to take a dip in the water! This is because they have a double-coat of fur, which helps to keep them insulated and therefore warm. To cool off when it's hot outside, they will often take a plunge and show off their swimming skills. Swimming is great exercise for Maltipoos and helps to burn off some of that extra energy they have. Swimming can also reinforce their bond with their owners, as they enjoy playing fetch in the water and spending time with their beloved family members.
Generally, Maltipoos are very sweet and affectionate dogs that do well around children. They are known for having gentle temperaments and for being good-natured, loyal companions. Maltipoos can easily become attached to their families and do well with people of all ages, including kids. These furry friends are quick learners and often thrive when it comes to learning commands, tricks, and good manners around children. With plenty of socialization and exercise, Maltipoos typically make great additions to households with children.
Training a Maltipoo requires patience, persistence, and consistency. Start by familiarizing your pup with basic commands like sit, stay and come. Start with short commands and slowly increase the length of each command as your pup gains proficiency. When implementing a new command, reward your pup with small treats and praise them for their successes. Additionally, you should make sure to introduce your puppy to a variety of people, sounds and situations in a positive way to help them become well-socialized. Keep training sessions short and interesting by changing up activities and introducing new commands.
