Questions & Answers
Maltipoos are one of the cutest and most popular hybrid doodle breeds. Here are some fun facts about these adorable little fur babies: they are a mix of the Maltese and the Poodle breeds and inherited the intelligence of Poodles and the playfulness of Maltese dogs. They don't shed, so they make great pets for those with allergies or sensitivities. Maltipoos generally have medium-length coats and their coat colors can range from cream, white, black, apricot, chocolate, grey, and more.
Maltipoos are sometimes advertised as hypoallergenic, but this doesn't mean they are entirely allergen-free. Maltipoos are a hybrid cross between a Maltese and a Toy or Miniature Poodle, both of which are considered to be hypoallergenic. However, any pet can cause an allergic reaction, and it often depends on the person's individual sensitivity.
Maltipoos should not eat any foods that are high in fat or sugar. Human food should be avoided as it is not formulated to meet the specific nutritional needs of a Maltipoo, and can increase the risk of obesity and pancreatic disease. Furthermore, it is important to note that cooked bones, onions and garlic are extremely harmful to Maltipoos, and should never be given. Instead, Maltipoos should be fed a high quality, nutritionally balanced dog food that is formulated specifically for smaller/toy breeds.
To become the best puppy parent for your Maltipoo, you should provide love, attention, exercise, structure, and education. Start by creating a routine and sticking to it. It is important to establish clear house rules from the start, and to consistently enforce them. Take your pup for frequent walks to keep them healthy. Spend time each day teaching them basic commands and playing to keep them mentally stimulated. Spend quality time with your Maltipoo every day – give them treats, pet them, and offer affection.
Maltipoos come in a variety of sizes, depending on the characteristics of its parent breeds. The size of the Maltipoo can range from a Toy size of around 4 to 6 pounds up to a Standard size of around 15 pounds. Generally speaking, the height of the Maltipoo is usually between 8 and 14 inches. As with any breed, the size of a Maltipoo can vary from litter to litter and even among full-grown adults. Therefore, it's best to speak with the breeder to get a better understanding of size expectations.
The amount of time you should walk your Maltipoo every day depends on a few variables, such as the age of your dog and their overall health. Generally speaking, 15 minutes of moderate exercise is sufficient for this breed, however you should also take into account other forms of physical activity such as running and playing. It is important to ensure that your Maltipoo is getting enough exercise each day to stay healthy and to help avoid health issues from a lack of physical activity.
Maltipoos are an excellent breed choice for families with children. Their endearing nature makes them a great companion as they love to play, snuggle and interact with kids. Maltipoos possess a natural protective instinct that is especially beneficial around young children. Furthermore, they are also smart, eager to learn, and extremely loyal and devoted to their families. As Maltipoos rarely bark, they create a quiet but vigilant watch over your family and our home.
Training a Maltipoo is no different than any other dog! Start by getting your pup used to basic obedience commands like sit, stay, lie down, and come when called. Once your Maltipoo is comfortable with these, you can move on to more specific tasks such as leash walking, socializing with other dogs, and learning commands like leave it and drop it. To encourage your pup to learn quickly, use positive reinforcement and reward your Maltipoo with treats when it does something correctly. Also be consistent with commands and only give them once your pup understands what it's expected to do.
