Questions & Answers
Maltipoos are known as fun, loving, and intelligent small dogs. They typically live for an average of twelve to fourteen years but can live longer. They are usually loyal to their owners and create strong relationships with the people they know. Maltipoos do not require a lot of grooming and their coats come in a variety of types and colors, including gray, black, white, and tan. Maltipoos actually don't shed very much at all, making them great companion animals for those with allergies.
It is possible for Maltipoos to cause an allergic reaction, however the likelihood of experiencing this is variable from person to person. Having an allergy to Maltipoos is not a common condition, but it can occur. The most common allergies associated with Maltipoos are caused by an inflammation of the skin from contact with their fur. To help prevent any potential allergies, those with high sensitivities should take extra care when playing and petting a Maltipoo, and should avoid contact with their fur or saliva when possible.
Maltipoos should not be fed table scraps, fatty or greasy meats, avocados, chocolates, raw eggs, or other people food. Maltipoop owners should feed them a high quality kibble food that is specially formulated for small breeds because this type of food can provide the best nutrition. Avoid buying foods with cheap fillers, such as corn, wheat, or byproducts, and choose foods that are higher in protein and lower in carbohydrates. Additionally, avoid giving bones to Maltipoos, as they can easily choke.
Before investing in a Maltipoo, you should be sure to purchase several essential items. A sturdy bed or crate for your pet is essential, as this will be where your dog will sleep and relax. You'll also need to buy a collar and leash, food and water dishes, high-quality food, chew toys, a brush and shampoo, and plenty of treats. You'll need to invest in a poop scooper to help manage cleaning after walks and trips outdoors, as well as pet-proof your home.
Maltipoos, a combination of Maltese and Poodle, are considered small to medium-sized dogs. Their size typically falls between toy and standard, ranging from 4 -20 pounds and about 10-14 inches in height. Although they are usually seen as lap dogs, their intelligence and playful personality allow them to maintain their activity level. As a mixed breed, Maltipoos have a wide variety of sizes and characteristics, so owners can expect a variable number when it comes to size.
It's important to make sure your Maltipoo gets daily exercise. Generally speaking, your dog should get a minimum of 15 minutes to one hour of exercise each day. When it comes to walking, it's recommended that your Maltipoo gets at least one brisk 30 minute walk per day, with additional strolls encouraged if you and your pup have the extra time. It's important to remember that each dog's needs are different, so make sure you talk to your veterinarian to determine the right exercise routine for your pet.
Many Maltipoos are known to get along very well with kids. These friendly little dogs often fall in love with their young owners and establish a strong bond with them. Maltipoos are gentle, sweet, and most importantly they love to play! They're the perfect pup to cuddle up with and they make an awesome companion for any age. Maltipoos are quite adaptable, so long as they're regularly trained and given exercise. Developing a good relationship with your Maltipoo as a pup will ensure a great connection is formed with kids when older.
The amount of time you need to train your Maltipoo every day depends on your specific goals as well as your pup's age and temperament. Generally, puppies require frequent, shorter training sessions throughout the day, whereas an adult dog may be able to benefit from fewer, longer training periods. In terms of specific time, it's best to devote at least 15 minutes (though ideally closer to 30) a day to training your pup. This could be broken into several shorter sessions of 5-10 minutes if needed.
