Questions & Answers
Maltipoos are a hybrid breed of dog created by crossing Maltese and Poodle breeds. They are known for their intelligence and good natured temperament. Fun facts about Maltipoos include that they come in a variety of sizes, from teacup to large toy; they are highly sociable and affectionate; Maltipoos can live up to 12-15 years; they make great family pets owing to being people-oriented; and their coats require minimal grooming thanks to the Poodle parent in their ancestry.
Since Maltipoos are a hybrid breed that is a cross between a Maltese and a Poodle, it is difficult to predict how much allergen production they might be inclined to have. While the Maltese breed is considered hypoallergenic and is known for causing fewer allergies, it is important to remember that the Poodle breed may bring with it some allergen production which could present an allergic reaction.
Maltipoos are fairly small and have sensitive stomachs, so it is important to provide them with pet food that meets their nutritional needs. People should avoid feeding their Maltipoo human food such as chocolate, grape/raisins, onions/garlic, xylitol, and fatty foods. It is also important to avoid feeding them foods with ingredients that may not provide the nutrition they need, such as corn, wheat, and soy. Too many human foods can cause gastrointestinal upset and weight gain.
Preparing for your new Maltipoo involves more than just making sure your home is ready for a furry friend. Before bringing your pup home you should first research the breed, as Maltipoos are a mix of Maltese and Poodle, and get familiar with their temperaments, behaviors, and appropriate care. You'll also want to make sure you have the necessary supplies in the home like a collar, leash, food, toys, bedding, and most importantly a well-fitted crate and plenty of patience.
Maltipoos are typically considered to be small-sized dogs. While their weight varies depending on the gene combination of their Poodle and Maltese parent breeds, they usually range between four and twelve pounds and seven to ten inches in height. Maltipoos are great family pets because they take up far less space than their larger counterparts, yet they can provide the same amount of loyalty and affection that bigger breeds do. Furthermore, since their maintenance requires minimal exercise, they can fit into both lowand high-activity households.
Maltipoos absolutely love to swim! This small yet active breed loves nothing more than splashing around in water. They have a thick, curly coat that makes them well-suited to the water and keeps them calm and comfortable while swimming. While some Maltipoos are naturally more inclined to take a dip than others, they all enjoy a good swim. Maltipoos are also said to be some of the bravest breeds when it comes to swimming and are unafraid of diving or even retrieving objects from the water.
Maltipoos can make great pets for first-time owners. This breed has a reputation for being very loyal and friendly, and they are also low-maintenance and low-shedding. Maltipoos require minimal grooming, making them ideal for novice pet owners who may not have a lot of experience in this area. Plus, they are relatively small in size, so they don't take up a lot of space. With the right training and attention, Maltipoos can provide great companionship and be a wonderful addition to any household.
Training your Maltipoo requires a consistent approach that is focused on positive reinforcement and rewards. The best way to start is to create a schedule. Make a plan for structured activities, such as taking your dog for a walk, obedience training, problem-solving and playtime. Be sure to establish clear rules for your pup and use positive reinforcement such as treats when they follow instructions. Additionally, Maltipoos also benefit from mental stimulation, so activities like agility, nosework and trick training can help to keep their minds active and help with training.
