Maltipoos are a cross between a Maltese and a Toy or Miniature Poodle, and are, as such, a perfect combination of both breeds. Maltipoos are relatively small dogs, ranging in size from about 6-10 pounds. They generally have round heads, somewhat bulging eyes, and fluffy coats. They are smart and affectionate dogs and can make great family pets.
Maltipoos are known for being low-shedding. Because of their hybrid nature, as a mix between a Maltese and Toy Poodle, they tend to have more of the non-shedding characteristics of their Poodle parent, yet still retain a lot of the adorable features of the Maltese. Generally speaking, Maltipoos are considered lowto non-shedding, making them a great breed for asthmatics or people with allergies. They still need regular grooming, but they do not shed nearly as much as most breeds.
Maltipoos, like all other small breeds of dogs, should not be fed a diet high in fat or salt. Avoid giving any human food that is heavily processed, such as hot dogs, sausages, salted snacks, or candy. Additionally, bones, such as chicken bones, can splinter when chewed, and can be a choking hazard, so it's important to prevent access to these items. Overeating is also a problem for pet Maltipoos, as they can easily become overweight, so it's best to carefully monitor the size of their portions.
Before getting a Maltipoo, there are some essentials you should purchase. First and foremost, you will need to invest in a quality crate for your pup so they feel as safe and secure as possible. You will also want to get quality food specifically designed for small breed dogs, appropriate chews, grooming tools, and an appropriate sized bed. Don't forget basic supplies such as collars, leashes, toys, and bowls. You will want to consider getting a supply of puppy pads in case of accidents as well.

They are also very affectionate and like to be around people, making them an excellent house pet for kids. With an even temper, Maltipoos are often willing to socialize and develop trusting relationships with kids. In addition, because of their size and playful nature, Maltipoos are easy for kids to handle and care for.
The amount of training a Maltipoo needs per day depends on its age, activity level, and the goals of the specific training plan. On average, a Maltipoo needs at least 30 minutes of structured training per day such as basic obedience and housebreaking and about another 20 minutes of playtime or activities. However, because training a Maltipoo can be a very individualized and unique experience, the amount of time needed can differ from dog to dog, given each pet's individual needs and circumstances.
