Maltipoos are a hybrid, or designer, breed of dog. They are a cross between a Maltese and a Toy or Miniature Poodle. Generally, Maltipoos have the curly, hypoallergenic coat of their Poodle parent and the gentle, loving disposition of their Maltese parent. These hybrids may vary in size, generally ranging from 5 to 20 pounds, with the Toy Poodle producing a smaller version of the Maltipoo. All Maltipoos have playful personalities and are known for being loyal, highly-intelligent, and affectionate companions.
While there is always a chance of developing allergies to animals, Maltipoos are considered to be hypoallergenic, meaning they produce a low amount of dander and allergens that a person with allergies might react to. If you are allergic to pets, you should confirm with your doctor that a Maltipoo might be a good fit for you.
