Questions & Answers
The price of Pomeranian puppies in NYC or anywhere else can vary from breeder to breeder. There is simply no set price for Poms. This is because a number of factors come into play when breeding these dogs like the breeder’s experience, coat color (Poms come in white, black, tan, orange, etc.), size, and pedigree.
Pomeranians are the best apartment dogs. They are small, smart, and they need little exercise -- a short walk around the block will do. These are the reasons why they are popular with people living in urban jungles! And while they are always down for a cuddle, Poms are also active and playful so it’s hard to feel lonely with them.
The Uptown network is growing bigger by the day. If you can’t find the perfect pooch for you in New York, we can help you look in the other lower 48 states. The breeders and businesses on Uptown can easily arrange safe travel for your new puppy so you can just pick him or her up at a major airport near you.
We receive an endless stream of applications from breeders and companies who want to join our network. All of them are subjected to a strict screening process where their experience, facility quality, and breeding practices are checked. Only less than 10% of the applicants are approved and move on to taking our Breeder Pledge -- which you can read about here!
It’s insanely easy to find a Pomeranian puppy online -- and at cheap prices too! But be careful because you could be buying from a puppy mill or a backyard breeder, both of which don’t care about the dogs they breed and sell. When you look for a puppy on Uptown, we can guarantee that you are buying from an ethical business that doesn’t abuse their dogs.
Puppy mills are essentially puppy factories: they produce as many puppies as they can at the lowest cost possible thus the cheap prices. The problem is, they don’t follow proper breeding practices and don’t provide enough care and socialization to their newborn litters. This results in puppies that are sickly or have behavior issues that are difficult to treat later on.
That’s not a problem! Pomeranians have a lot of variety and it’s always fun to choose which one to take home. Let us know what kind of Pom you dream of having and we’ll find the best breeders that match your description. If you’re still unsure about what Pom you want, browse our featured puppies so you can have an idea of how cute each variety is!
Pomeranians are the smallest of the Spitz family and its name came from the town in which it originated -- Pomerania. Its parent breeds are huge sled dogs of which explains the Pom’s magnificent fur. These small fluffy dogs began as royal pets and were bred to be small and portable. Today, they remain popular companion dogs even to people without a crown.
Pomeranians may be small but they are sturdy and can live up to 16 years! But like all dogs their size, they are predisposed to certain health issues like a luxating patella (a knee issue), tracheal collapse, hypoglycemia, dental problems, and alopecia. With proper breeding and care, the risks of these problems developing later in life are greatly reduced which is why it’s important to get your dog from a responsible breeder.
Searching for a healthy Pomeranian puppy on Uptown is easy! Start by browsing our featured puppies. Once your heart is set on one (or two!), contact the breeder and let them know you are interested. Then you can arrange a visit to the breeder’s and soon you will bring home your new best friend!
