Questions & Answers
Pomeranian puppies from different breeders can vary in prices due to a number of factors: the breeder’s experience, coat color (white, black, tan, orange, etc.), size (teacup, teddy bear, standard), and pedigree among other things. That said, pet owners must understand that there is no fixed price for a Pom.
Yes! Pomeranians will thrive even in small homes. Thanks to their size, calm nature, and low exercise needs, Poms do well in apartments, condos, and other small dwellings. These terrific companion dogs can get by with a short daily walk and are perfect for city dwellers or people with busy schedules.
Uptown Puppies covers the lower 48 states so if there are no Pomeranians for sale in your city, we can still help you find the puppy that you want in another state! The breeders and businesses on our network are pros and can arrange safe transport for your new puppy so you can just meet him or her at a major airport near you.
Every day, we receive a ton of applications from breeders who want to join the network. They all go through our trademark screening process which checks for the breeder’s experience, facility quality, and breeding practice. Less than 10% of these businesses get approved and when they do, they also take our Breeder Pledge which helps uphold the highest standards in breeding.
It’s quite easy to find a Pomeranian pup on the internet but the problem with that is, you can never know if you are buying from a puppy mill or an inexperienced breeder. There’s just no way to be sure. However, when you search through Uptown, we can guarantee that all the breeders that you meet are professional, ethical, and responsible.
A Pomeranian puppy for sale at a very cheap price is a red flag. Remember that only puppy mills, who don’t take good care of their dogs and puppies, can sell at rock-bottom prices. The problem with Poms from mills is that they are often at a higher risk of genetic health issues and behavior problems due to poor breeding practices and lack of proper care/socialization.

The Pomeranian comes from the Spitz family. This particular breed came from Pomerania, a part of northeastern Germany and northwestern Poland, hence the name. In the 1700s, members of the royal family kept fluffy Poms as pets and soon, more families wanted their own cuddly companion dog. Today, the Pom is one of the most recognizable lapdogs in the world.
Pomeranians can fall anywhere between 7-12 inches in height and 3-7 pounds in weight. Some Poms can be notably larger and heavier given that they descended from huge sled dogs but they shouldn’t be too big to be carried around. Since their popularity in the 18th century, these pooches are bred to be small and portable.
Despite their size, Pomeranians are quite healthy and sturdy, especially when bred properly. Healthy Poms can live up to 12-16 years! Like most small dogs, they are genetically predisposed to luxating patella (a knee issue), tracheal collapse (throat problems), hypoglycemia, teeth overcrowding, and alopecia. These health risks are greatly increased by the improper breeding that’s typically done in mills.
