Questions & Answers
Pomskies have a very unique and interesting background that makes them one of the more intriguing hybrid dog breeds. Pomskies are a mix of a Pomeranian and Siberian Husky, so they have a combination of playful and affectionate traits from two different breed personalities. As a result, Pomskies can be friendly and loyal, yet independent and alert all at the same time, giving them a unique, bubbly personality that's full of energy and life.
Pomskies, a cross between a Pomeranian and a Siberian Husky, can vary in terms of shedding. Generally speaking, the Pomsky tends to be a low-shedding breed, thanks to the Pomeranian's influence—but they do need regular brushing to help eliminate loose hairs. Though they're not completely non-shedding, they usually will not produce as much dander and loose fur as some of the other breeds, making it much easier to manage.
Pomskies are a hybrid breed, so they tend to eat the same type of food as other small-breed dogs. Generally, Pomskies need a food that is high in protein, low in fat, and with limited amounts of carbohydrates. Meat should always be the first ingredient listed on the food label. Whether wet or dry food, look for foods that are specifically for small breeds and offer complete and balanced nutrition for their needs. Along with their regular food, Pomskies may also enjoy occasional treats.
Preparing for a new Pomsky can be a fun and exciting process! Make sure to plan your budget, so you know how much you can spend on items such as food, treats, toys, and vet bills. You'll also need to create an appropriate living space, customizing it with items they'll need. This can include appropriate bedding, grooming supplies, a collar and leash, and crate. It's also a good idea to research training techniques and lay out a plan for an initial puppy schedule.
Pomskies are a hybrid breed which can vary in size depending on the parent breeds. On average, an adult Pomsky will weigh between 18 and 30 pounds and stand between 10 and 15 inches tall. However, there are always exceptions to the rule. Some Pomskies may be larger than the average for their particular bloodline, and some may be smaller. Ultimately, the size of your puppy will depend on the specific mix of parent breeds, but it is fair to say that the most common size range is between 18 and 30 pounds.
Generally speaking, it depends on how active your Pomsky is and if it has any health or physical limitations. A general rule of thumb is to give your Pomsky at least 30 minutes of walking per day at a moderate pace. That said, it's recommended to monitor your Pomsky's energy level to observe if it needs more walking time. If your Pomsky is very active, it's best to adjust the amounts of walking based on its needs. If it's feeling tired and sluggish, providing regular walks twice a day of 15-20 minutes each should suffice.
Pomskies often have excellent temperaments that make them well-suited to family life, including households with children. They tend to be affectionate, loyal, and enjoy playing and spending time with their humans of all ages. They are also intelligent and can be taught basic commands, which helps create a positive, harmonious relationship between the pet and the child/children. In general, Pomskies should get along very well with most children as long as proper introductions are made and safety and training protocols are followed.
Pomskies have varying exercise requirements based on their age, activity level, and size, so it is impossible to provide a single universal answer as to how many minutes of training they need each day. Generally speaking, however, most Pomskies need between 15 to 30 minutes of physical exercise every day. Activities such as running or fetching a ball are excellent for providing adequate physical activity for your dog. In addition, they need mental stimulation in the form of training sessions for at least 20 minutes a day.
