A Pomsky is an increasingly popular designer dog breed, which is a cross between a purebred Pomeranian and Siberian Husky. It is considered a "designer" breed because the parents are of different breeds and its offspring is usually almost 50-50 a combination of the two. Pomskies are usually quite small in size, weighing anywhere between 8 and 30 lbs. They have a thick fur coat and may have either the tail and erect ears of the Pomeranian or the pointed ears and tail of a Husky.
Pomskies are not deemed to be a hypoallergenic breed. The coat of a Pomsky is a combination of the Pomeranian and the Siberian Husky, both of which shed and thus, these dogs are not typically recommended for people with allergies. Although many individuals report that they experience less allergic reactions to Pomskies when compared to other breeds, they do still produce dander, which is a key allergen. In addition, Pomskies produce hair that is moderate to heavy in shedding. This may be problematic for those with allergies.
