Pomskies are a designer breed of the Spitz and the Pomeranian, and are known to be both intelligent and loyal. They are energetic and full of life which makes them an ideal choice for people who are active and like to have a pup they can bring everywhere. Pomskies are people-oriented and known for their friendly demeanor, but can also be quite shy and sensitive. They can easily be trained but require lots of patience and a strong willingness to respond and learn.
The Pomsky breed is known for its signature dense and soft double-coat. The fur tends to be much longer on the neck area, making the head appear more fluffy and romantic. The texture of this coat is usually medium to thick and the colors and patterns tend to be fairly varied. The dominant colors for the Pomsky are white, brown, and grey, but some puppies have been observed to have orange, red, black, blue, and many other color combinations as well. The most common patterns are Panda, Piebald, Roan, Camo, and Blanket.
Pomskies are enjoyably active and playful pooches! To keep them healthy, it's best to avoid offering them foods that are high in sugar, preservatives, or that contain artificial colors or flavors. Foods such as rawhide, onion, garlic, avocado, macadamia nuts, and grapes are potentially toxic to dogs and should be avoided. Pomskies should also not be given bones; they can become lodged in their throat and pose a serious health hazard.
