Questions & Answers
Pomskies are a mix of two incredible breeds: the Siberian Husky and the Pomeranian. As a result, they have the best of both worlds a bit of a Husky's sturdiness, size, and intelligence, combined with the loving, playful, and sociable nature of a Pomeranian. This premium designer breed makes them an interesting breed due to their unique coloration and versatility. They can range from black to golden and have different coat textures; both thick and thin.
Pomskies, like any pet, can cause allergies in some people. Whether or not you experience allergies is dependent on a variety of factors including your individual sensitivities and the environment in which the Pomsky lives. Generally speaking, the breed doesn't usually trigger the same level of reactions as other hybrid such as Poodles. If you are looking for a dog that doesn't set off your allergies, it may be beneficial for you to explore other non-shedding breeds such as Havanese, Shih Tzu, and Coton De Tulear.
Pomskies are a mixed breed of dog, most often created by breeding a Pomeranian and a Siberian Husky. As such, they are a fairly new breed, and there is no blanket answer to what they should be fed. Generally they should be fed a high-quality dog food, but it is important to pay attention to the nutritional needs of the individual pup. Consider your pup's activity level, age and size and find a dog food that can provide your Pomsky with the proper nutrition.
Preparing your home for a new Pomsky involves both physical and environmental preparations. Physically, make sure the area where your pup will stay is safe and pet-friendly. This can include putting away any hazardous items like cleaning products or electrical cords, buying pet-safe furniture, and investing in sturdy toys. You'll also need to make sure the area is secure, so it's best to install safety gates to the entry points and baby-proof doorknobs, windows, and drawers where applicable.
Pomskies tend to be on the smaller size when it comes to dogs, though they can vary greatly in terms of size. Generally speaking, an adult Pomsky will be around 10-15 inches tall and weigh around 15-30 pounds. Some will be slightly larger or smaller depending on the genetic makeup of the parents. Though small in size, they can still make great pets for those who prefer something on the smaller side.
How much you choose to walk your Pomsky each day is up to you, but the American Kennel Club recommends at least 30 minutes of exercise every day. This should include at least two intervals of 15 minutes of walking. The exercise should be tailored to the specific needs and size of your particular Pomsky. Before starting a training program, talk to your vet about any health concerns that need to be taken into account when creating an exercise plan. As a general guideline, a Pomsky should get 30 minutes of exercise a day, preferably broken down into two 15 minute walks.
Pomskies generally get along great with kids. As social animals, they are friendly and playful, and the combination of Siberian Husky and Pomeranian make them just the right size – not too big and not too small – for children to interact with. Their loyalty and devotion to their family make them reliable and dependable companions to both young and old. Depending on their nurtured environment, these dogs are great around kids of all ages due to their natural curiosity and adaptability. With proper socialization and training, Pomskies can make excellent additions to any family with children.
Pomskies require at least 30 minutes of exercise per day. However, depending on their age and energy level, they may need more. It's important that the time is split up throughout the day, as short bursts of activity can be just as beneficial as longer sessions. Additionally, mixing up the activities can help keep their attention and further stimulate their brain. Every Pomskie's needs are different, so the amount of time allocated for training should be adjusted accordingly. Remember, it's never too late to start incorporating more exercise into your Pomskie's daily routine.
