Questions & Answers
Pomskies are a unique hybrid breed of dog that have become increasingly popular in the past few years. They are a cross between a Pomeranian and a Siberian Husky, which gives them a unique look and a wide variety of personality traits. What’s so interesting about Pomskies is that their physical features and personalities are constantly changing and evolving; every dog is one-of-a-kind. They require a lot of exercise and playtime and need firm, consistent boundaries.
Pomskies, a hybrid of a Pomeranian and a Siberian Husky, are not considered hypoallergenic. While both Pomeranians and Siberians Huskies have a double coat which is often described as hypoallergenic, because it does not cause allergic reactions in many people, Pomskies have a single coat and can in fact cause allergic reactions in some people. Although its origin is from hypoallergenic dogs, the single coat of a Pomsky may cause allergic reactions to people who are sensitive to pet fur.
It is not recommended to feed Pomskies human foods like junk food, candy, sugary drinks, garlic, or any other foods that are bad for humans. Pomskies should only be given specially formulated dog food that meets their breed's nutritional requirements. Similarly, they should not be fed table scraps or food from cookware that has been used for cooking human food. Foods that are too salty, greasy, or fatty should also be avoided. Other items that should never be fed to a Pomsky include raw eggs, raw meat, or fish, as these can all contain harmful bacteria.
Before your new Pomsky comes home, you should make sure your home is ready. Start by puppy-proofing the area they will be living in. Cover or remove any objects that could cause harm, like cords, cables, plants, plastic, and any sharp objects. Next, assemble the items they will need such as food, a bed, dishes, and toys. Lastly, make sure you have the right pet insurance in place so that your Pomsky is covered in case of unexpected health problems.
Pomskies come in a variety of sizes and can range anywhere from 5 to 40 pounds. Generally speaking, smaller Pomskies weigh about 5-10 pounds while larger ones can weigh up to 40 pounds. Whether a Pomsky is a toy, small, medium, or large breed dog depends on the weight and size of the parents. Factors such as genetics and the Pomskies' diet play an important role in determining its adult size. Generally, Pomskies reach their full size by 18-24 months of age.
Yes, Pomskies are definitely active dogs. They are very energetic and enjoy spending time playing outdoors. Pomskies are a great choice for an active family because they require regular exercise and activity; otherwise, they can get bored and destructive. Some owners have even called them one of the most energetic and faithful breeds available. They have strong bodies for their size, so they are able to run, jump, and swim with ease. With frequent exercise and plenty of activity, those who own Pomskies are usually very pleased with their pet.
Absolutely, Pomskies get along very well with kids! Generally, these wonderful dogs make great family pets and form strong bonds with their owners and other family members, including children. They are fun-loving, gentle, and easily excited, with plenty of energy to run around and play with the kids. They are also intelligent and alert, so they can easily recognize any dangerous situations and alert their owners to potential problems. When it comes to having a best friend for your kids, a Pomsky might just be the perfect fit.
Pomskies are a relatively new breed, so the best approach to training them is to keep it consistent and reward their successes with treats and praise. Start by teaching them basic commands, such as sit, stay, and come. Once they have mastered those commands, they should be ready to learn more complex commands and training exercises. It is important to be patient and consistent when training your Pomsky, and to reward them for their successes. Additionally, it is helpful to ensure the environment you are training them in is calm and comfortable. Aim to keep the training sessions short and focused.
