Questions & Answers
Pomskies are an incredibly interesting crossbreed that are quickly growing in popularity. What makes them unique is that they have physical traits that come from both the purebred Siberian Husky and the Pomeranian, meaning that they come in a variety of sizes and colors! They have all the energy and devotion of a husky with the playfulness of a Pomeranian, making them an ideal companion.
Pomskies are a hybrid breed between a Pomeranian and a Siberian Husky, and like most hybrid breeds they display a variety of traits. When it comes to shedding, Pomskies may not be as non-shedding as other Pomeranian hybrids, but they are still relatively low shedding compared to other breeds. Pomskies tend to have thick fur, which may create more shedding than other breeds, but the amount of shedding depends on the individual and each Pomsky's unique coat characteristics.
Pomskies, like all breeds of dogs, have their own unique dietary needs. Generally, Pomskies need to eat a balanced diet that is high in proteins, low in fat and includes plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. It's also important to provide additional supplements to ensure your Pomsky is getting all of the necessary vitamins and minerals. Generally, an adult Pomsky will need between 1 and 2 cups of food each day, split into smaller meals throughout the day. Puppies need even more food than adults, as they need the energy to grow and develop.
Before purchasing a Pomsky, it's important to make sure you've got the essentials. It's a good idea to first invest in a comfortable crate for the pup to sleep in, as well as a few suitable chew toys for him/her to gnaw on. You'll also need to get essentials such as food, water and feeding dishes, a collar and leash, a brush, waste bags, and some training treats. Additionally, it may also be worth your time to get a dog bed, so your pup is comfortable and can relax in an area of his/her own.
Pomskies may appear small due to their extra-fluffy coats, but these designer dogs actually range from 15-30 pounds. As a hybrid breed, Pomskies often take on some of the size characteristics of both of their purebred parents. Since the Pomeranian parent is a toy breed, Pomskies created from such parents can be smaller, ranging in size from 2-15 pounds. Despite their size, Pomskies make great family pets, being known for their friendly, intelligent, and playful temperaments.
Walking your Pomsky is an important activity as it keeps them physically and mentally engaged as well as helps them stay fit and healthy. How much time you should dedicate per day to walking your Pomsky depends on their age, size, physical condition and overall energy levels. Generally speaking, adult Pomskies should be given at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise daily and double that for puppies who have high energy levels.
Pomskies can make great first-time pets for many owners, as they tend to be loyal, affectionate, and easy to train. They loves lots of attention, so they can form strong bonds with their owners. As an added bonus, Pomskies are also relatively smaller in size compared to most breeds, which makes them more compatible with apartment living and other small living spaces. They require some moderate exercise, although they tend to stay fairly active, so it shouldn't be too challenging for first-time owners.
The amount of time that you need to train Pomskies each day will depend largely on the individual dog and their energy level. Generally speaking, Pomskies require moderate exercise and mental stimulation throughout the day. Your daily training routine should include at least 30 minutes of structured activity, such as leash walking, running, or agility drills, and 10-15 minutes of reward-based training. Keep in mind that it's important to switch up the types of activities that you do with your dog to keep them engaged and to prevent boredom.
