Questions & Answers
Pomskies are an incredibly fascinating breed! They are a hybrid of two incredibly popular breeds of dog, the Pomeranian and the Siberian Husky. They are known for having an energetic, loyal, and friendly personality. In addition, they are also recognized for their unique set of traits, which come from their two hybrid parents. Pomskies come in a wide variety of sizes and coat colors, so finding the perfect one for you is easier than you may think. Pomskies are also incredibly smart and have the potential to learn all kinds of tricks.
Pomskies are a relatively new breed and, therefore, there is not yet sufficient data to accurately determine whether they are non-shedding. However, it is known that they are a mix of a Siberian Huskie and a Pomeranian, and both of these dog breeds themselves are considered to be low-shedding. Therefore, it is reasonable to suggest that a Pomsky is also likely to be a low-shedding dog. Of course, it is strictly dependent on the genetics of each individual Pomsky and each one should be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Pomskies are fluffy little bundles of joy and should be fed a diet that is specifically tailored for their smaller size. As with most breeds, it's best to avoid table scraps, as they can be high in fat and other unhealthy ingredients that can damage your pup's health. Additionally, artificial sweeteners, chocolates, alcohol, raisins, macadamia nuts, onions, and garlic should all be avoided, as they can be toxic to your pup.
Pomsky, like all other pets, have special needs that must be met for them to stay healthy and happy. This includes providing them with adequate nutrition, check-ups from a veterinarian, and plenty of quality playtime. Additionally, they require regular maintenance, such as brushing, bathing, and nail trimming. Regular exercise to stay in good shape is another essential requirement. Social interaction with people and other dogs is also important for Pomskies to stay happy and content, ideally with daily walks and playtime with other canines.
Pomskies are a unique hybrid created by crossing a Pomeranian with a Siberian Husky. While the full size of an adult Pomsky can't be determined until they reach maturity, they generally stay relatively small and don't usually grow to more than 15-20 pounds. In fact, the American Kennel Club classifies Pomsky breeds as "toy" and not "large" dogs. Thus, Pomskies would not be considered big dogs, despite their often fluffy and fluffy-looking appearance.
Absolutely! Pomskies have the perfect combination of Siberian Husky and Pomeranian— which makes them a great candidate for rural and urban jogging or running. They have enough energy, endurance, and motivation to keep you safe and stay with you for the duration of your exercise session. Not to mention, Pomskies are notoriously known to be quite sociable, which tends to make them more enjoyable companions for outdoor activities.
Pomskies are an incredibly people-friendly breed and can make wonderful family pets. They have the energy and enthusiasm of a Siberian Husky, combined with the lapdog attitude of a Pomeranian, making them super affectionate and devoted companions. Generally speaking, with proper socialization and training, they get along great with kids and other pets, as long as they receive the right amount of love, attention, and exercise.
Training a Pomsky can be both an easy and difficult endeavor as it varies depending on the individual pup. Generally, training is easier with Pomskies since they tend to be naturally sociable and alert dogs. With the right approach and consistency, you can teach your pup all kinds of commands and tricks. An important factor in taking on the task of training is having patience; this is absolutely essential as Pomskies will take a little longer to train since they can be rather stubborn at points. It is also important to keep a positive attitude and use treats and praise to reward your pup's progress.
