Poodles are one of the smartest breeds of dog and have won numerous awards in obedience and agility competitions. They originated in Germany and come in three sizes: Toy, Miniature, and Standard. Poodles usually have curly coats and sometimes come in cool colors like silver and blue! Interestingly, they don't shed and tend to be hypoallergenic. Even more fascinating is that they are very good swimmers! Poodle owners often take their dogs to water shows to show off their jumping and swimming skills. Poodles are also very social and enjoy being around people.
Poodles are generally considered hypoallergenic, as they have a low level of shedding and produce less dander than many other dog breeds. This makes them a popular choice for people with allergies because it reduces the likelihood for them to suffer an allergic reaction when exposed to the dog. Poodles come in four sizes Standard, Miniature, Toy, and Teacup. The Standard size is the largest, measuring up to 15 inches at the shoulder and weighing from 45 to 70 pounds. The Miniature size stands 15 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs between 15 and 17 pounds. The Toy variety is a small size, standing no more than 10 inches high and weighing between 4 and 6 pounds. The smallest of the four sizes is the Teacup, standing at no more than 7 inches, with a expected weight of 2-4 pounds.
