Regular brushing to remove loose hair, bathing, nail-trimming, and occasional clipping is all that is necessary to keep a Poodle looking nice. Finally, get your home ready by puppy proofing it; this may include putting away any hazardous or breakable items, blocking off potentially dangerous areas, investing in proper containment options, and ensuring that all exits are secure.
Poodles are considered a medium-sized dog breed, not truly a "big dog" compared to larger breeds such as Great Danes, St Bernards, and other giant breeds. However, they are certainly larger in stature compared to toy breeds and their dense, curly coat gives the illusion of a larger size. Generally, Standard Poodles stand 15 inches and taller and can weigh anywhere from 40and 70 pounds. To put that in context, they are typically the same size as a typical Border Collie.
