These handsome canines can come in a variety of sizes including Toy, Miniature and Standard. They are famous for their distinctive curly coats and proud, upright carriage. Poodles are one of the oldest of all dog breeds and are thought to have originated in Germany, where they were used as retrievers on waterfowl hunting expeditions. These friendly pooches have since become popular family pets and have an endearing combination of playfulness and intelligence.
Poodles are hypoallergenic, meaning they are less likely to leave behind allergens from their coat that may affect those with allergies. Toy Poodles are generally much smaller, typically between 4 and 6 pounds and 6 to 8 inches tall. Ultimately, the size of your Poodle puppy will depend on its breed and the genetic makeup of its parents.
Poodles require a moderate amount of daily exercise. They typically benefit from multiple walks throughout the day, playtime in a fenced yard, and occasional dates at the dog park or with another pup. Healthy poodles should receive around 30 minutes to an hour of physical activity daily; more physically demanding activities can be done twice a week, such as running or extended hikes in appropriate terrain.
