Questions & Answers
There are loads of good dogs for apartments! Some family favorites in the Uptown Network include Doodles (such as Cockapoos, Cavapoos, Maltipoos, Yorkipoos and smaller variations of the Labradoodle and Goldendoodle), French Bulldogs, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, English Bulldogs, Bichon Frises, Shih Tzus...the list goes on!
One of the most important traits to look for in an apartment dog is size, followed by activity level. Smaller, less active dogs need less exercise to be happy and healthy—making them a great fit for smaller spaces. Another often overlooked trait is shedding level—high shedders will quickly overwhelm your apartment with unwanted fluff.
Doodles are an all-around great pick for most families and some of the best dogs for small homes. While larger Doodle variants like standard Labradoodles, Goldendoodles or Bernedoodles may not be ideal for apartments, smaller Doodles are a different story. Look for micro/mini Labradoodles and Goldendoodles, or a Cockapoo, Cavapoo, Maltipoo or Yorkipoo for small apartment dogs.
French Bulldogs are great low maintenance dogs for apartments. Small, low-shedding and SUPER low energy dogs, the French Bulldog would rather lounge on the couch than race around the house. French Bulldogs are lovable and goofy, making them a great choice for apartment-dwelling families of all types.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are one of the best apartment dog breeds. Their tiny size combined with low-shedding, silky coats and a relatively low energy level makes the Cav the perfect lap dog. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are adorable, cuddly and loving, meaning they’re a good fit for most families.
While a standard Poodle isn’t the ideal apartment dog, the good news is that Poodles come in several different sizes. The teacup and miniature Poodle (and even medium Poodles) can make excellent pets for small homes and apartments—especially because Poodles are one of the most hypoallergenic dog breeds around.
So, you’ve browsed our available litters and located the perfect apartment dog...now what? We’ll put you in touch with your dog’s breeder, who can help answer any questions you have about your new pal. Your breeder will keep you updated on your puppy’s vet checks, diet, and travel arrangements until you’ve been united with your new puppy.
Searching for a puppy online is tough. There are so many scams and unethical puppy mills that it’s hard to know who to trust. We’ve personally vetted all of the breeders and businesses listed in our network. That means when you pick a puppy here, you’re ONLY working with ethical, humane breeders who love dogs as much as you do.
Yes! There are tons of available and soon-to-be-available litters in our network for DOZENS of different apartment-friendly puppies. The only bad news is that these dogs tend to get adopted fast—it’s not unheard of for a new litter to be fully booked and adopted within a day. See your dream dog? Reserve them ASAP before someone else does!
We help families across the US connect with breeders all over the US, too. So how do you bring home a puppy located hundreds of miles away? Easy! Breeders and businesses approved by our network can arrange travel for your puppy. The most common method of travel is flying your pooch to the closest major airport.
Our vetting process is strict, and we only accept breeders and businesses who adhere to our 47-point Breeder Pledge. When you work with an Uptown-approved breeder, you’ll have peace of mind that your pooch is coming from a loving home—and we promise we’ll never work with puppy mills, ever.
Before your puppy arrives, he or she will receive a thorough nose-to-tail veterinary check. This evaluation will ensure the health of your puppy’s skin, fur, nose, ears, eyes and teeth—plus their gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Breeders listed here at Uptown are serious about taking care of their dogs!
