When you crack open your first tray of Ollie food, it’ll be pretty obvious you’re not dealing with your grandma’s dog food. We could actually see peas and chunks of carrots in our dog’s food—already off to a good start!

Since the recipe has a moisture content of 72%, the protein’s dry matter content is 35.7%, fat is 17.85%, and fiber is 7.14%.

With the two primary ingredients being chicken and chicken gizzard, we’re already off to a good start. Fresh meat is top-quality protein for dogs, and organ meats also provide healthy fats, vitamins and minerals.
Chicken gizzards specifically are a great source of protein, fat, iron, calcium and sodium, while chicken liver is an excellent source of iron, Vitamin C and Vitamin A.
Combined with sunflower oil, cod liver oil and fish oil, these organ meats give your dog a healthy mix of omega fatty acids that are important for the health of your dog’s skin and coat.
Moving on to carbs, Chicken Goodness mainly relies on fresh veggies like green peas, spinach and carrots—in addition to potatoes and long grain rice. These two starchy carbohydrate sources are widely considered to be easy to digest for canines.
With that said, some dogs do have grain allergies, and rice is a type of grain.
Blueberries and chia seeds provide supplementary fiber. Although this recipe’s fiber content is slightly higher than the recommended 5% for dogs, most of this fiber is coming from fruits and vegetables, meaning you shouldn’t have to worry about digestion problems.
Moving down the list, we get to herbs and synthetic supplements. This recipe contains just six supplements, meaning a vast majority of its nutritional value is coming from fresh ingredients. Although beef is the main protein source for this formula, it’s supported by three types of organ meats—beef heart, liver and kidney.
