Our commitment at Uptown Puppies is to help people find their pup from a reputable, professional dog breeder who will give them a healthy, happy dog.
Need to know more? Here are the most common questions.
How much you may pay for your puppy depends on the puppy you pick and the breeder you buy it from. Factors that come into play when pricing pups includes the rarity and demand of the dog’s breed, the sex of the dog, and the quality and color of its coat. You may also want to pay a little more for a breeder that has a longstanding reputation and is highly recommended. Or you may get more of a bargain price from a newer breeder, but either way, if they are listed on Uptown Puppy, they meet all of our standards for experience and care of the animals. Whatever you are looking for, we’ll help you find the right pup for you and your budget.
Yes. Not everyone seeking a “puppy for sale near me” can find exactly the pup they’re searching for in their own town, or depending on how specific their desired pup is, and how rare the breed, they may even have to look out of state to find their dog. If you look through Uptown Puppies and find one you absolutely love and must have, but it’s from a breeder that isn’t in your state, you can contact the breeder and they will hold the puppy for you to come pick up in person, or they will deliver the puppy right to your nearest airport.
We have a very demanding, 47 point checklist. We demand the very best treatment of new puppies from the dog breeding industry, and we only list dog breeders on our network who meet all of our standards for the dogs’ health, care, and quality of life while they’re responsible for them. Our checklist includes standards for experience and veterinary care, and also for the lifestyle and living conditions of the dogs under the care of breeders in our network.
Unlike some other places where you may find “dogs for sale near me,” Uptown Puppies is carefully, scrupulously selective about the available puppies we show you. We only show you puppies from dog breeders that meet our exacting standards. Because we believe dog breeding should be ethical and the breeders should to their utmost to be kind to the animals. That’s why it’s amazing that our network is so expansive. We’ve had to do a lot of work to put together such an extensive and well qualified list.
Don’t bother with Rapid City Craigslist, Rapid City, SD residents. Or Sioux Falls Craigslist. Or Great Falls Craigslist. This is a common way for people to search for a new dog in South Dakota, but you run the risk of supporting a puppy mill or inexperienced breeder who doesn’t give the dogs the care and treatment they deserve. You can find dogs for sale near you through Uptown Puppies that come from reputable breeders who know how to care for dogs, and put the time and resources into making sure their puppies are high quality animals with the soundest, most loving living conditions possible.
Beware of using South Dakota Craigslist to find a new pup for your family. SD Craigslist and other places offering cheap puppies for sale might be getting them from a puppy mill. Before considering “free puppies near me” Craigslist advertisements, know that puppy mills are like factory farms for dogs, that put the dogs they breed under a lot of stress, and don’t put the time and resources into giving their pups the best quality of care they deserve before you take one home to be part of your family. We think your puppy should be treated like family from the moment it’s born.
If you have an apartment, small dogs for sale may be ideal for you. A small living space will get cramped with a bigger dog breed. When browsing “small dogs for sale near me” some breeds to consider are “Maltese puppies for sale near me,” “Yorkies for sale near me,” and “Beagle puppies for sale near me.” Other good small dog breeds include: Pomeranians, Poodles, Bulldogs, Basenjis, Boston Terriers, and Dachshunds.
Not all cute puppies for sale stay cute in the eyes of owners who want a dog that’s not too boring, or challenging for them as an owner. If you want a dog that’s both intelligent, and easy to train, so it will have good manners and get along well with you-- and can do lots of fun tricks-- consider a Border Collie, Poodle, Labrador Retriever, German Shepherd, Havanese, Border Terrier, Boxer, or Australian Shepherd.
Lately designer breeds have become very popular. Many of these are hybrid breeds of two different classic thoroughbreds mixed together into a unique, interesting, and fun combination. Not to mention super cute! So if you’re searching for a French bulldog for sale near me, or some other designer dog, here are some other hybrids: a Corgi Poodle mix, Corgi Husky puppies, Golden Lab puppies, Golden Retriever Corgis (or Corgi Golden Retriever), and the Pug Poodle mix.
A family might want to consider different breeds than a single bachelor / bachelorette, or a young couple just starting out with no plans to have children in the near future. If you have a family with small children, you’ll want an affable, loyal, gentle dog breed. Dogs that make good family pets for people with children include: Golden Retrievers, Beagles, Labrador Retrievers, Boxers, Poodles, Collies, Bulldogs, Newfoundlands, and Pugs.
We don’t sell puppies in South Dakota, and Uptown Puppies doesn’t breed them either. We’re not a chain of dog breeders. What we do is provide a website that serves as pet classifieds for puppies, but with strict requirements for who’s allowed to list puppies. So we’ve put together a network of only high quality, professional, trusted, ethical breeders, who know how to care for dogs properly and have enough experience that there is an established track record of ethical, professional dog breeding and raising.
Absolutely. If a dog breeder doesn’t have at least 18 months experience they don’t get listed. If they haven’t successfully raised at least two litters of pups, they don’t get listed. If they don’t have a formal, ongoing partnership with an attending veterinarian to look after the puppies’ health, they don’t get listed. If they don’t give the puppies daily human love and exercise, they don’t get listed. If they don’t use approved food and give the puppies constant access to clean drinking water, they don’t get listed. We get applications all the time, and accept only the best 10% or fewer of the dog breeders who apply to join our network.
